Everything you need to know about removing Urinal Block

Everything you need to know about removing Urinal Block

Urinal blocks are a great invention for all people. It is often known as urinal cakes. Urinal block is a cleaning tool, which stops the stinky smell of urine and reduces smell. The primary function of urinal blocks is to disinfect urinal and reduce the smell of urine from urinals.

What is a urinal block?

Urinal blocks are a cube-sized product, which reduces the awful smell of urine and helps keep urinals clean. There are many functions of Urinal blocks. So many companies offer these products with a variety of pleasant odors. The products like urinal blocks are convenient and useful. They can prevent the smell and provide a pleasant aroma. Urinal blocks are also available in many colors.

In the early years, this product was made from carcinogenic elements that were not good for human health if inhaled for an extended period. The good news is that now many companies are making this product from non-carcinogenic substances. They call it as enzyme-based products. These products are non-harmful to us.

How Does Urinal Blocks Remove The odor?

Urine is a waste material from the human body, which contains ammonia and many other harmful elements. When urine dries on the urinal’s surface, it creates a positive environment for bacteria to grow because bacteria require ammonia to reproduce.

These bacteria are responsible for the awful odor. Urinal blocks destroy these bacteria and prevent the smell. The urinal blocks are manufactured so that when urine passes through it, this block melts. So, it also prevents the blockage of urinals. It hinders the way, so only urine can pass through it.

Urinal blocks are water-soluble substances. So, it dissolves with the urine and also cleans the pipes of a urinal. Thus, it prevents clogging in the urinal.

How To Use Urinal Block?

The best way to use a urinal block is to put on a urinal screen. Urinal screen is a flexible perforated met, which prevents the clogging urinal. Put this urinal screen on the main drain, so the solid substance and hairs couldn’t fall into the drain pipe.

Place a urinal block on the urinal screen. The chemical structure allows a urinal block to dissolve over time. The urinal screen prevents the small-sized urinal blocks from going down into the drain. When it fully dissolves, the chemicals used in the urinal blocks clean the drain pipe also.

There are a variety of companies selling urinal blocks in the different price ranges. The buyer should think wisely. The low-priced urinal blocks come with short time use. So ultimately, the number of low-cost urinal blocks will require more. In contrast, if you buy a quality product at a reasonable price, it lasts for a long time, and the quantity used will be less. So, purchase quality urinal blocks instead of focusing on costs.

With this, we put full stope on this post regarding urinal block. Hopefully, after reading this post, you know everything about the urinal block and related information. What are your views on urinal cakes/urinal blocks? Please share it with us using the comment box below.

10 Tips for Clean-up Pet Stains from Cloth and Carpet

10 Tips for Clean-up Pet Stains from Cloth and Carpet

Having a pet is one of the best experiences in life. But, prepare for the Clean-up. Accidents will happen continuously, and you have to be ready to clean the mess of your pet. It is frustrating when your lovable pet vomits or urinates on the carpet of your living room. The old days are gone when pet stains were permanent.  But do not worry about pet stains, as today we bring you top ten tips for pet stain removal from cloth and carpet.

  1. Make your Cleaning spray:

Mix baking soda and vinegar and put this solution in a spray bottle. Keep it handy. When you see a stain, spray that solution. Leave it for 15 minutes and then wash it. It’s a trendy and useful DIY to clean pet stains.

  1. Clean the urine or vomit ASAP:

Don’t wait after you noticed urine or vomit on your cloth or carpet. Clean it as soon as possible. The possibility of easy removal is high when it is new. Just spray the solution you made.

  1. Don’t rub on pet stain:

You should place a towel or paper on the urine until it absorbs in a towel instead of rubbing. Rubbing will spread the stain and smell. So, use a cloth or paper to absorb urine and do it several times.

  1. Don’t use steam cleaners on urine:

It’s very easy to clean by steam cleaner. But wait, don’t use it on urine. The heat from the steam cleaner binds the protein from the urine onto the carpet. So, the stains might look clean, but you have to deal with the stinky smell of urine. So, don’t use steam cleaners on urine.

  1. The awful smell from stain, Use baking soda:

Use baking soda to get rid of the smell of stain. You can put baking soda on the stain by using an old toothbrush, it will go into the carpet, and the rest will be done by baking soda.  Leave it there for 15 minutes and then vacuum it. Baking soda absorbs the smell from the carpet, and you don’t have to smell anything stinky.

  1. Use a black light to mark old stains:

The old urine stains will radiate on the exposure to black light. So, you can mark the old stain and clean it with the mentioned methods.

  1. Rinse cloth after cleaning with bleach:

When you clean the cloths with the bleach-based product, don’t forget to rinse it. The chemicals like chlorine are used in these products, which is harmful to pets. So, rinse it to remove chlorine or use warm water for washing.

  1. Use dustpan for vomit:

A dustpan is a handy tool while cleaning vomit. Something vomit is massive, so use this tool.

  1. Gently use Hydrogen Peroxide:

Hydrogen peroxide is popular to use for pet stains. However, it would be best if you didn’t overuse it because it will make your carpet colorless. So, use only in small quantities.

  1. Use the enzyme-based product to clean old stains:

Enzyme-based products disintegrate the molecules of urine and make it easy to remove. You can find it in cleaning stores or on amazon at a very affordable price.

Pet stains are a prevalent problem and not a reason to leave pet animals. Use these tips, and you will see the difference. Share your experience with pet stains in the comment box.

How to Get Grid from Algae in Dams?

How to Get Grid from Algae in Dams?

Algae is a vital part of the aquatic ecosystem. It is an aquatic living organism that requires sunlight and nutrition to grow other plants likewise. Algae can grow and sprout exponentially. There are two types of ways through algae reproduce. One is vegetative propagation, and another is the production of spores.

Four types of algae are found in water bodies: Green algae, Flagellates, Diatoms, and Blue-green algae. Among these, the blue-green algae are toxic for other living organisms, including humans. Blue-green algae spread toxins into the water and harmful for the animals if they drink such contaminated water. Human skin is very allergic to this kind of algae. People often feel irritation and red rashes when they swim into the water body having blue-green algae.

Why do algae grow in Dams?

Algae require these four conditions to grow: Sunlight, High Nutrients, Warm temperature, and Water pH between 7 to 8. And the exciting thing is that all of these conditions are ubiquitous in dams and other same kinds of water bodies. The algae bloom can disturb and damage the aquatic organisms and deter the quality and nutrition of water from the dams. That is why it is vital to Remove Algae Dam.

3 Effective Ways To Remove Algae From Dams

  1. Manually Removal:

When you inspect algae blooms into a dam, you should first manually remove that algae. It sounds like hard work. But it is a primary step. However, it is not a permeant solution. You can get rid of algae for a short period. At that time, you can find the best way to Remove Algae Pond by limiting nutrition and sunlight. If you suspect blue-green algae, it is advisable to use alternative methods and restrict the water for use till the next 10-15 days, as the presence of blue-green algae will contaminate it.

  1. Modify Dam Construction:

Algae can rapidly spread in water under the sun. The reason being, the rate of photosynthesis increases in sunlight and helps algae to grow. So, it is advisable to make deep dams instead of shallow ones. Because the sunlight cannot penetrate to the bottom of the dam is deep. Thus, the possibility of algae in a deep dam is low.

  1. Treating with Chemicals:

Generally, ferric alum used for a preventive purpose; you can use this chemical to get rid of algae. Algae require phosphorus and nitrogen as same as other plants. Ferric alum eliminates phosphorus from water, and this stops the growth of algae. Apply about 50 grams of Ferric alum per 1000 liters of water. Place this chemical on a porous bag with the float.

Simazine, Calcium hypochlorite, and Cupric ide also used to kill algae from the water. However, it might be possible that some of these chemicals harmful to other aquatic animals. It would help if you were careful while using chemicals to kill algae.

Algae can contaminate water and damage aquatic animals. You should continuously monitor the water for the presence of algae and immediately restrict water from the use if you sense blue-green algae. The ways, as mentioned above, are well-effective to remove algae. Comment below if you are facing the problem of algae. We will reach you soon.

An OU-led interdisciplinary global study expands the understanding of activated sludge microbiomes for next-generation wastewater treatment and reuse systems enhanced by microbiome engineering.
NORMAN—A University of Oklahoma-led interdisciplinary global study expands the understanding of activated sludge microbiomes for next-generation wastewater treatment and reuse systems enhanced by microbiome engineering. Wastewater treatment and reuse are critical to global health and sustaining a world population predicted to reach 10 billion by 2050.

“In May 2014, we established a Global Water Microbiome Consortium (http://gwmc.ou.edu) as a way to promote international collaboration and communication on global research and education for water microbiome,” said Jizhong Zhou, OU director, Institute for Environmental Genomics; George Lynn Cross Research Professor, OU College of Arts and Sciences; adjunct professor, Gallogly College of Engineering; adjunct senior scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory; and adjunct professor, Tsinghua University.

“Different from several other global initiatives using a bottom-up approach to solicit microbial samples, the consortium used top-down sampling strategy to target the microbiomes of activated sludge processes in municipal wastewater treatment plants that represent a vital element of the infrastructure for modern urban societies. The campaign involved 111 investigators who sampled 269 wastewater treatment plants in 86 cities in 23 countries on six continents,” said Zhou.

This study is novel in several ways: (1) it reports the first comprehensive, highly coordinated effort to examine the global diversity and biogeography of the activated sludge microbiome; (2) it documents a highly diverse activated microbiome, containing up to one billion microbial phylotypes comprise of novel species; (3) it identifies the core global taxa of activated sludge microbial communities that are linked to activated sludge performance; (4) it reveals that the activated sludge microbiome is distinct from microbiomes in other habitats; and (5) it provides an understanding of the mechanisms driving the composition and functions of the activated sludge communities.

Each day wastewater is treated by an activated sludge process in municipal wastewater treatment plants and returned to the environment for use. This treatment process has been used for over a century and today represents the largest application of biotechnology in the world, yet there has been no effort to map the global activated sludge microbiome. Developing a fundamental understanding of the biodiversity of the activated sludge microbiome in relationship to performance is critical to advancing and optimizing this key technology for maintaining environmental health.

“This unprecedented global sampling effort yielded new insight into the microbiology of activated sludge,” said Bruce Rittmann, director, Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology, Arizona State University. “Despite giant geographic differences, the microbial communities of activated sludge have a core of about 28 bacterial strains, which reflects the powerful and unique ecological selection of the activated sludge process.”

“This expansive study is the first time that a systematic study of the hugely beneficial microbial communities involved in the biological treatment of daily wastewaters from communities around the world have been studied to understand their fundamental structure and function has been undertaken. It represents an important development in understanding and maintaining these crucial microbial communities,” said Lisa Alvarez-Cohen, Fred and Claire Sauer Professor, University of California Berkeley, and adjunct senior scientist, Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.

A paper on this research, “Global Diversity and Biogeography of the Bacterial Communities in Wastewater Treatment Plants,” has been published in Nature Microbiology. For more information about this study, please contact jzhou@ou.edu.

Testimonials by Mark and Rosemary

Rosemary (my partner) and I are very impressed with how a dam was transformed in as little as three days. Not only was the water muddy, but smelly, and when gravity feeding down the pipe to trough, some with automatic feeders for horses to drink, everyday was clogging up the filter. Which then needed to be cleaned several times, just to get enough water for six horses to drink for the day. To be honest, after going through the filter, the look and the smell of the water was not really what you wanted your horses to drink. After three days it is improved magnificently!

The Problem

In the middle of the recent hot, dry summer, the dam water that we were giving our horses to drink was becoming a revolting yellow/green colour, and smelt bad. It was gravity feeding through a long pipe with a filter. Instead of cleaning the filter every day or so, Rosemary was cleaning it several times every morning, in the course of filling the troughs for seven horses, and still it stank bad!

The Results

After first using the Dam Buster soluble bags, it took three days to see an improvement in the algae present, and it continued improving for weeks. Of course the filter still needed cleaning to remove pieces of grass, twigs and leaves that had blown into it, and more after a storm which had washed debris in; but all the same there is a distinct improvement; in fact, Rosemary comments, the plastic filter, has now regained the original pristine white colour that it had when first it came out of its packet!

Extra tips around the farm

We use Grey Water to grow vegetables for our own use… water is limited. I have been told, that grey water should be used within a day or two and not be stored and allowed to be come smelly. So when it actually rains, and the grey water tank becomes full of water from the washing machine etc, and the garden does not need watering because of the rain, what do you do? The grey water becomes smelly. Simply add a little DamBuster: the grey water tank then becomes cleaner than it had been for I do not know how long…. And we happily used it when dry conditions return as they inevitably do.

A Chicken Yard: We have seventeen chickens hatched in an incubator. They are let out to free range on grass and grubs for a couple of hours per day. (If we leave them free full time from dawn to dark, they will destroy all the grass, and unfortunately, the local free range foxes will visit; but when it rains, the yard becomes very smelly, despite the straw and wood much on the flow. With addition of some DamBuster, and some more mulch, the smell is gone, and with more rain does the smell not return. Soon we will add some sand, and eventually remove the whole lot, as rich soil, with plenty of compost ready to add to a garden bed.

Kaye Browne is a Pet commentator for Veterinary professionals. speaking to Steve Smith on 2GB about Wee Off.

Audio Transcript
Steve: Now tell us about this new product, that takes the smell away from dog and cat accidents, we need one of these.

Kaye: You are looking at someone that has been looking and has tried so many products over the years. Anyone that has umm, dogs or cats for that matter. Knows that, you know, it’s a little embarrassing, as soon as you know someone is coming over, you rush to get you know the spray.

Steve: The spray, yeah.

Kaye: I do. I have tried so many things, there’s umm, urinal off, urine free, there is another pee off, I’m doing the nice version. But, I have found something I was researching and I thought there’s got to be a better way. I found an Australian product. Which actually is a biological agent, so its actually the, its a precursor. A lot of these other products have enzymes in them, and they do not a bad job, I’m not saying they are bad, its just that it doesn’t last long. So I have found something that is actually has umm, billions of really specific bacteria in it and you spray. We know if things have been done, if you’ve got a big area out the back like I have on the artificial grass, you can get a bigger product, mix it in with water, spray it around. Hallelujah!

Steve: Oh really? That good?

Kaye: It really does work!

Steve: Ah what’s it called?

Kaye: It’s called, well there is two of them Wee Off is the one for inside and Bio Blitz is for outside.

Steve: Bio Blitz outside on the tiles

Kaye: Or on the artificial grass, even on little bushes or steps. You know how, the neighbours cat comes around and does his spray and you get that awful smell.

Steve: Yep, yeah.

Kaye: And it’s available through a website, bnsolutions.com.au and that stands for Bio Natural Solutions.

Steve: B, n, for nelly, solutions, dot com dot au, alright.

Kaye: Yeah, and its not that expensive, I bought some, cause I didn’t want to, you know, say it was good until I tried it and I am quietly in heaven.

Steve: Ok, Bio Natural Solutions, if Kaye is saying that considering the time she has spent around animals for most of her life, it must work. So get ahold of that product, and it does clear up that terrible acidic smell that you get out of the accidents.

Bacterial agent Dam Buster gets rid of sludge and chemicals from farm dams

Bacterial agent Dam Buster gets rid of sludge and chemicals from farm dams

Bacterial agent Dam Buster gets rid of sludge and chemicals from farm dams

Colin Taylor, originally published The Weekly Times March 3rd 2017

A NEW ecological method of getting rid of suspended solids, sludge and chemicals in manure ponds and farm dams will be on show at the field days.
Distributed in Australia by Bio Natural Solutions, of Tullamarine, Dam Buster is a blend of live, cultured bacteria which eats away at organic matter until the water is PH-neutral and unpleasant smells, surface crusts and any “rotten egg gas” (hydrogen sulphide) have disappeared.
Dam Buster was released a year ago and had its first public showing at International Dairy Week at Tatura.
Managing director Robert Weston said Bio Natural Solutions acted as a wholesaler, selling initially through GV Dairy Supplies in Shepparton.
The story starts with ROEBIC Laboratories in Connecticut, US, established in 1959 to produce environmentally friendly products to help consumers with their sewage disposal. ROEBIC’s range has now grown to consist of 35 products.
“They developed the patented RoeTech line of bacterial cultures and we’ve adapted one of those to produce Dam Buster for sludge removal, cleaning septic tanks and stock troughs and wastewater treatment in such places as abattoirs, farms and piggeries,” Mr Weston said.
“All we did was add an oxygenation agent.
“We mix it together in 250g soluble bags which are simply thrown into the dam, sold in terms of dam sizes — quarter-megalitre to five megalitres.
“This product is one of a kind. It’s certified biodegradable and approved by AQIS and Good Environmental Choice Australia.
“On Christmas Eve, we started treating a five-megalitre dam near Kyabram and the farmer’s gobsmacked.
“In virtually six weeks, Dam Buster got rid of the sludge on top and silt at the bottom, and it turned to clean water.
“We’ve also done dams in western Victoria and near Wangaratta.
“Up until now, it’s been very expensive for dairy farms to dredge up that waste, but to treat a one-megalitre dam will cost $418, including GST.
“After that, it’s just a matter of maintenance.”
GV Dairy Supplies owner Paul McGrath said he was encouraged to stock Dam Buster after free on-farm trials managed by Mr Weston proved successful. “There’s clearly a need for a product like this among the dairy farming community,” Mr McGrath said.
“We previously sold a different product which proved too temperamental in our local weather conditions, whereas Dam Buster has shown a lot more resilience in that regard.”

David Warnaar – Course Superintendent

We have been using Dam Buster from Bio Natural Solutions for 18 months now. Before we started using Dam buster we were have serious algae problems in our water storage facility which was then creating major headaches in the filtration system of our irrigation.
Our dam holds around 5 mega litres but has a surface area of around 3500 square meters and is fed by a milk factory called Fonterra, we receive what is called condensate from them on a regular basis and it is generally a good quality water source, it is classified as Class A recycled water. Being only a small storage facility in relation to how much we can irrigate each 24 hour period, the turn over in the dam is constant, but not enough to stop algae forming over the warmer weather.

We have tried many different additives and formulas to try and combat the problem each summer, but many were not effective and cost prohibitive. 2 years ago the problem became that bad that we were having to dismantle sprinklers and clean out the filter in the heads after on 10 minutes of irrigation which meant 3 workers constantly work all day just to keep water on the course, it was at that time that I discovered Dam Buster.

Within two weeks of commencing Dam Buster treatments the problem was on the improve and then only another two weeks the algae problems were no more. 6 months previous to using Dam Buster we had also put in an aeration system to help alleviate the problem and although by itself I don’t believe this helped but in combination with the Dam Buster the aeration assisted. Before I was happy to give a testimonial I wanted to see how Dam Buster worker over an entire season.

We have now gone through an entire irrigation system using Dam Buster, this year was on average warmer and we had more days of full sun, and the treatment with Dam Buster has been a complete success. We have experienced no algae issues at all this summer, not one filter has required cleaning, the dam is clearer and the water has no odour when irrigated. I have included some photos, taken at the same time in summer 12 months apart, the results are obvious.

Why Enzymes & Bio-Bacterial Technology

Why Enzymes & Bio-Bacterial Technology

Why Enzymes & Bio-Bacterial Technology

Bacteria are living cells are extremely small microorganism that multiply as long as there is grime or waste to consume. While eating, they naturally produce enzymes to break down the grime & waste into molecules it can easily digest. Bacteria will continue eating and multiplying until all the dirt or pollutants are gone! Naturally produced bacterial enzymes are much more effective and economical, than manufactured enzymes at breaking down organic matter.

Our bacteria are enzyme producing powerhouses. Bacteria use the enzymes they produce to break down complex waste into simple compounds, which it then consumes, thereby completely eliminating grime, waste and odours!

Our Bacteria is safe for the environment and scientifically proven, Our bio-bacterial products are not genetically altered, are chemical free and 100% safe for you & your family, livestock, wildlife and aquatic systems.

Ours, are the only products that consume phosphates, ammonia and nitrates, while improving water quality and completely eliminating odours.

Enzymes are fundamental components of all living organisms. these inexhaustible bio-catalysts can improve the effectiveness of and even replace very large quantities of man-made chemicals that devastate our envirnoment.

All living organisms depend on enzymes to enable energy-releasing reactions. These reactions synthesize biological activity along an incredible spectrum; from the degradation of organic contaminant all the way to functioning as the building blocks for cells. Enzymes are part of the natural order of degrading organics and do not disrupt that natural process.

What are the differences?
Chemicals are NOT living cells, cannot reproduce and will not increase effectiveness on application. They are also harmful to the environment and not as efficient at removing grime or waste.

How they work?
Chemicals oxidise sludge and ammonia but only harsh chemicals can fully remove the waste. Considerably toxic and harmful to you & your family, livestock, wildlife and aquatic systems.

Environmental Effect?
Chemicals used for cleaning and water treatment are extremely harmful to the environment. Prolonged exposure can cause mild to severe health problems.
