Why are your urinal blocks different to the others?
Our biological cleaning products contain active 'good' biological bacteria which produce enzymes that source and feed on the uric salt, sludge and scale that is found in the urinal pipework. Some cleaning products are chemical based and only mask the smell and don't treat the problem. Being biological our products are environmentally friendly.
How much water will be saved using BNS products?
It is widely recognized that washrooms, in particular urinals, are the biggest contributor to wasting water. With the cost of water increasing, businesses are looking to reduce their water usage. With the water saving systems installed and user education on reducing water, businesses can save up to 98% of water currently being used.
How long will the Bio Blitz Urinal Blocks last?
This will depend on the on a number of factors ranging from traffic and flushing volume and the number of times the urinal is flush during the day. One average, one block can last up to 15 days and is replaced once the block has reached 10% of its size. There are 50 blocks per tub and if the container is sealed and stored in a dry, cool area away from direct sunlight, the blocks will last up to two years.
Can I use our normal cleaning products with the urinal blocks, Green Sleeve™, Wee On™?
No - if you mix your cleaning products with our biological products, the bleach, disinfectants, acids and other chemicals will harm the good bacteria in our products reducing the effectiveness of the bacteria.
What can I use to clean the urinal?
We strongly recommend in using the Bio Blitz Biological Cleaner as it has been designed to work with the green urinal blocks. The bacteria found in the block are also used in the cleaner to give that extra help. For standard cleaning, mix the concentrate 10:1 with cold water in a 1 litre spray bottle and is spray on to the urinal face, walls and surrounding floor.
Can the Biological Cleaner concentrate be used for anything else?
The Biological Cleaner is a multipurpose cleaner that replaces nearly all cleaning products. the Biological Cleaner great to mop the washroom floors and is a alternative to the harsh chemicals used. Urine can find its way into the tile grout/concrete and after time can cause smells. The cleaner gets into the tile grout and feeds on the uric salt building up. Always mix with cold water and can be used in your regular cleaning routine.
Can we use your products if we have a septic tank?
Yes - the bacteria found in the blocks and cleaner contain friendly bacteria which will improve the condition of your septic tank. However, BNS has developed especial products for use in septic tanks. These products have different concentration of bacteria to treat different issues.
How do we educate user and cleaner not to flush?
Over each urinal button we place a sign to advise users that there is no need to flush as the urinal blocks, Green Sleeve™ or Wee On™ in front of them are doing the job of cleaning the urinal. Cleaners are given a cleaning and procedure sign to advise them the correct way to maintain the urinals. The cleaning routine is no different to what most cleaners do, the only difference is to use the biological cleaner. At the end of the day or first thing in the morning, the cleaner can flush the urinal to wash any sludge away. Over flushing will reduce the effectiveness of the block and cleaner.
Can't we just turn the water off to the urinal?
No, absolutely not. Not only is it health and safety issue it is also against Australian plumbing regulations. Our system has been designed to use a small amount of water to help flush the build up of uric salt and sludge. Flushing the urinal needs the water to be turned on. We have developed automatic flusher timers that can be programmed to flush the urinals for an adjustable time interval.
Do we require installing any hardware for the system to work?
If you are only placing the Bio Blitz urinal blocks or the Wee On™ urinal screen, you do not need to install anything.
If you are using the Green Sleeve™ you are required to install a waste adapter. This is a one time job. Thereafter, the Green Sleeve does not require any installation.
If you wish to install our complete water saving system, you do require installing hardware for the system to work. This hardware can be installed by a licensed plumber.
Is the water saving system easy to maintain?
Yes - cleaners just need to monitor the blocks, urinal screen or sani-sleeve everyday and replace them if needed and clean the urinals with the Biological Cleaner. The timer has the option to conduct flush tests at any time to facilitate cleaning.
Do we need to do anything before installing the urinal blocks, urinal screen or green sleeve?
Yes - we recommend you to do a deep clean of the urinal pipework to support the product.
Why do your urinal blocks include a copper inhibitor?
Human urine is approx 96% water with around 4% of other dissolved substances including:
· Urea - a sticky substance Urochrome - gives urine its yellow colour
· Uric Acid - a mild acid which is high in nitrogen
· Sodium - Ammonium
· Potassium
Urine and Uric Acid do not attack brass or copper pipe work, it's when bacteria consume the uric acid, it produces ammonia which attacks the copper piping. The green urinal blocks have a copper inhibitor included to coat the pipe work.
Can a controlled flush program timer or sensors be used?
Yes - as many office building washrooms have automatic flushing via a timer or sensor, it's a perfect way to flush the urinal. We have automatic timers which can assist the flushing. The timer must be installed by a licensed plumber and a electrician may be require if a power point is not accessible in the ceiling of the washroom. Remember to set the timer correctly as over flushing will consume the block quicker.
Why does the urinal still smell?
We have found that in most cases it's not the urinal but the floor or floor wastes surrounding the urinal. Men have a habit of missing the urinal bowl and urine ends up on the floor. By using the biological cleaner concentrate to mop your floors, it will get into the tile grout/concrete and attack the uric salt. You can pour the biological cleaner down your floor drains.
What can go wrong if we install the blocks, screens or sleeves?
Not much - if the system is maintained correctly the urinals will be odour free. The bacteria found in the blocks and cleaner will only break down the uric salts and sludge and will not remove hair, cigarette butts and other foreign matters. Daily cleaning to remove these from the urinal bowl will stop them from dropping in the pipe work. Pouring the mop bucket water down the drain can also harm the bacteria in the block if using other harsh chemical cleaners as it attacks the bacteria and reducing its effectiveness.
Can we still use our deodourisers?
The Bio Blitz™ Urinal Blocks and Biological Cleaner Concentrate contain active ‘good' biological bacteria which produce the important enzymes that source and feed on the uric salt, sludge and scale that is found in the urinal pipework. By removing the source of the odour, you remove the offensive odour from entering the washroom therefore there is no requirement for the deodouriser. The Bio Blitz™ products contain a orange crush and floral mask fragrance which leave the urinal and washroom fresh and hygienic.
Can we still use our sanitisers?
No - most sanitizers contain bleach, disinfectants or other chemicals which can harm the friendly bacteria in our products reducing the effectiveness of the products. If you which to still use then we recommend using the Bio Blitz™ Biological Cleaner Concentrate.
What should we use to clean the washroom with?
For best results, we recommend using a microfiber cloth and mop head.
Other manufacturers claim to have a higher bacteria count?
This is simple a marketing/sale hype to push that their product is better. Having more bacteria in not the answer, but having the right combination of bacteria is. Our products contain 6 specifically selected patented bacteria which all have an important role in removing the organic matter.
How much time will we save by using your biological cleaning products?
Cleaners are often blamed for not doing their job when offensive odours are present in washrooms. With the use of our biological cleaning products, cleaners will save up 40% of the total cleaning time as the product will remove the source of the problem.
