Do you really know what you are using?

When deciding what cleaners to use for your washroom, bathroom or kitchen do you study the ingredients in the product or do trust that the person selling the cleaner is telling you the truth? Too often people are told that the product is safe, is biodegradable, contains natural ingredients and fragrances. Doing some homework might find out that the natural sounding ingredients might be synthetic. Natural fragrances can be created from a number of chemicals via a synthetic process - does an apple scent come from a real apple? What size does the cleaner come in, how much do I need to use, is it a concentrate or ready to use, how much water do I need to use, what does it do, can I replace my other cleaners with it. Remeber that everytime you use less of something you are improving the impact you make to the environment!

Reuse

When cleaning always try to reuse anything you can. Microfiber mops and cloths are great tools for cleaning as they are machine washable and will last for months or even years rather than days or weeks like a cloth or sponge.

Recycle

How much packaing is used, is it needed, can the packaing be recycled. The more packaging required, more energy is needed to produce the packaing. By selecting products with minimal packaging will reduce everyones carbon footprint!
